Geographic Information Systems (GIS) create work and decision
bases for a large circle of people.
In the federal, state, and municipal administration, in engineering offices
and energy and telecommunications companies, decisions usually have a spatial
reference: whoever enters, maintains, updates or, for whatever reason, calls
up data, is not just interested in the «what», but also in the
«where».
TOPOBASE™: c-plan® Database Meeting OpenGIS Specifications
TOPOBASE™ from c-plan® is an information system that meets the specifications
of the international OpenGIS Consortium and can present subject data, i.e.
the «what», as well as the geographic data, i.e. the «where»
in the form of maps and plans. All data are stored in one single database,
so that data keeping becomes easier, while maintenance and updating become
simpler.
TOPOBASE™: c-plan® Database with Many Standards
TOPOBASE™ from c-plan® is based on widespread software standards.
The advantage: The system integrates seamlessly into existing EDP environments;
much valuable data that already exists can be transferred and still be utilized.
TOPOBASE™: The Technology at a Glance
TOPOBASE™ was conceived for professional,
parallel information processing by several users. Every access triggers protective
mechanisms, which prevent two users from manipulating the same files at the
same time (long term and short term transaction). Thus data consistency is
guaranteed across the entire system.
TOPOBASE™: Graphic Presentation with Autodesk Products
In order to present and process data on the monitor, TOPOBASE™ uses
the Autodesk software: AutoCAD Map and Autodesk MapGuide™.
The programs are widely used and have relatively low system requirements.
In this way, GIS applications become affordable for wide circles of users.
In addition, the decreasing training expenditures optimize the overall costs.
Furthermore, a large number of AutoCAD applications are available, with which
you can expand your system for special requirements (raster data processing,
plotter output, construction management planning, symbol libraries for line
cadastres, and much more).
TOPOBASE™: Modular, Open and Flexible
In order to process data in the central database there are numerous programs
and software modules, which the user can compile according to their needs.
The graphic shows how the individual modules cooperate to resolve the tasks
of the users on the various workstations.
