EKO Stahl GmbH Eisenhüttenstadt

The factory information system of the EKO Stahl GmbH steel company, Eisenhüttenstadt, is being built up by M.O.S.S. Computer Graphic Systems in a joint effort with c-plan GmbH Deutschland. EKO Stahl GmbH in Eisenhüttenstadt is now one of Europe's most modern steel locations for flat bar steel. Since 1999, EKO Stahl has been part of the French Usinor group, one of the world's biggest steel producers. Within the group, EKO Stahl serves the Eastern European markets and is in charge of worldwide customer care for the Volkswagen group.

EKO Stahl GmbH's factory information system manages the geographic data of the various corporate divisions in one unitary modern geoinformation system (GIS). Crucial for the decision in favour of c-plan were the tried-and-tested GIS technologies, the adaptability to the company's own processes and the solution's high utility value.
In the implementation of the various technical applications, use is made of proven modules under TOPOBASE™ (surveying, real property, district heating, electricity, etc.).

These were either redesigned or developed by M.O.S.S. to make new application modules in line with EKO's needs. One case in point is the specialized application “Rail operations” for the management or geo-management of the operating resources and rolling stock in the company's factory railway.

After what was an extremely short launch period of a mere 3 months, given the complexity of the project, technical staff are now working successfully with the system.

The in-depth support provided by M.O.S.S. and c-plan for EKO Stahl's workforce, along with a remote maintenance option, are the prerequisites for high system availability and smooth cooperation between vendor and user. Also, a systematic alignment of TOPOBASE™ to OpenGIS specifications ensures future-proof operations at EKO Stahl.
